How to curb reflexive eating in social settings, from watching the game to visiting friends:
• Step away from the snacks
• Have something healthful before you go; don’t head out on an empty stomach
• Chew gum
• If you’ll be sitting, bring along your knitting (or other portable craft)
• Excuse yourself to brush your teeth
• Don’t go anywhere without a water bottle
• Take 5 (walk around the block)
• Visit the restroom or get your jacket out of the car when the waiter comes around
to take orders for another round
• Volunteer to be the photographer so your hands are occupied!
