You Are What You Eat

You Are What You Eat

What you eat has a direct impact on how your body works; from the mood your are in to the amount of fat your body stores and burns.  I recommend using a resource called "Michi's Ladder" to determine your daily food choices.  Click Here to see it.

The more you eat at the top of the ladder, the better healthy and fitness results you will see.  No matter how much you work out, it is important to make smart food choices because if you don't make smart food choices, you won't see the excess fat around your waist or thighs go away.  If you give yourself at least 3 weeks of eating at the top of Michi's Ladder, your weight loss results will be AWESOME!

Make sure every meal keeps the appropriate ratio of calories from carbohydrates, proteins, and fats fairly even.  A guiding principle is to shoot for 40% of your calories to come from carbohydrates, 30% from protein, and 30% from fat.

Choosing the right Foods:
  • Replaced processed foods with fresh vegetables. (This will help you lose weight)
  • Choose skinless white meat rather than red meat.
  • Eat egg whites rather than whole eggs since egg whites have less fat.
  • When eating a meal that might be high in fat, i.e. pizza, or carbohydrates, i.e. pasta, eat only half of what you would normally consume.  They key is to not overeat.
  • Select low-density, high-fiber foods, whenever possible.
